Review of City of Ember (2008) by Sean P — 12 Mar 2013
First thing I have to say is that while watching a movie about a city suffering from blackouts, my building lost power. Ironic. It was a good movie, though I think I should have read the book first. If Bill Murray was trying to play an utterly despicable character, he succeed. I thoroughly did not like him, just grated my nerves whenever he came on screen. The child actors were good though. I should also say although the ending was complete, it was abrupt. There are sequels to the book though.
Update: Having now read the book, I can say that they royally shredded the plot. Gigantic mole creatures, answering machines, Lina carrying the box with her everywhere she went. Frankly only half of the movie is true to the book.
