Review of City of Angels (1998) by Ransom K — 01 Feb 2013

This is one of my favorite love story's. It is definitely the best thing Nicholas Cage ever did. What I like about this film is how deep it is. It is not like some other super sappy love story, this one had a lot of intense things in it. The whole thing of how he is not human, and how he can't feel, bleed, or be seen without wanting to be seen was very deep, and intense if you think about it. It also made me think about religious things like angels, and God. I am not that into romance stories but I love this one. Nicholas Cage even though he plays his own personality in everything he does, he still can pull off some good acting at times, but not very often.

Also I love the music for this movie, and I felt like it added a lot to the film. Like the famous Goo Goo Dolls song "Iris" was written for this movie, and that is one of my favorite songs. The lyrics to that song I feel like make this movie seem even more deep, when you connect them to the story. This film has one of my favorite soundtracks of all time.

I liked the hemingway references in this story. My great grandfather lived next door to Hemingway actually. The references to hemingway added more to the story, and to it's themes.

I also really liked the scenes when the one guy who was once an angel, but decided to be human, talks to Nicholas cage. That was a very interesting part of the film. There were a lot of really interesting parts to this film like that. A great movie all around.

The ending was a little predictable, and slightly stupid however. It was stupid because the person was stupid. I won't blow the ending, but that's the only bad part though.
