Review of City Lights (2014) by Greg L — 13 Feb 2011
With "talkies" becoming all the rage at the time of its release, this was destined to be the last notable silent feature in Hollywood history, but at least it sent the genre out with a bang. It's one of Chaplin's most memorable performances, and tells the basic rags-to-riches and boy-meets-girl stories as well as they can be told in pantomime, providing a fitting capstone for the silent era.
