Review of City Lights (2014) by Caleb P — 30 Mar 2014
A great movie. I didn't like it as much as Modern Times or Great Dictator, but I liked it more than Gold Rush. There were some brilliant scenes, probably with the boxing one being my favorite. The tension between rich and poor really captures the 30s, but it also has resonance in today's Occupy Wall Street, 99 vs 1 percent culture.
That's what makes Charlie Chaplin such a genius. His movies are timeless and relevant nearly a century later. They're true art.
