Review of City Lights (1931) by Marco F — 15 Mar 2009
A masterpiece of the comedy genre, an amazing film where very much unlike today, this film is centered around humor stemming from geniuely funny jokes that are not mean, self-centered and gross. The humor here stems from reality, such as love, passion and humor coming from the human heart.
Chaplin truly was, and still is, the greatest comedic performer ever. No actor can, or will ever come close to his timing, his creative energy in which the gags are done and his physicalities in his performance.
The way he shot it also makes the film even more funny.
