Review of Citizenfour (2014) by Brian C — 23 Feb 2015
Whilst I've got to admit that I am a fan of Edward Snowden and symapthise his uncovering the treasonous activities of the US regimes since 9/11, and I also admit that this is the only Oscar-nominated documentary movie I've seen from the current crop, as film-making this was not particularly Oscar-worthy. It is fortuitous that Laura Poitras had such access to Snowden, but there's not much more than that. In particular the editing (read: abrupt cuts) distracted from the contiguity and flow.
This said, it is still worth a viewing. (And the US needs many more Ed Snowdens.).
