Written and directed by Alexander Payne (Sideways, About Schmidt, Election). This movie was before all those other movies. Laura Dern is a pregnant junkie who finds herself on the fence of an abortion war.
Itâ??s over the top sarcastic tone is sure to rub pro-lifers the wrong way. I just didnâ??t think it was funny. And Laura Dern, who probably took the role as a vehicle for her to win award, kind of sucks.
Sounds harsh, but because of her I couldnâ??t get into the movie. Itâ??s going to be a hit or miss. I know people who love it. I know people who donâ??t. I fall into the latter category. *.
