Review of Citizen Kane (1941) by Brett C — 31 Jan 2014
Without some research, it is difficult for the young movie going audience of today to truly appreciate the technical achievements and stylistic breakthroughs this film has attached to it. The strength of the film is definitely in the dialouge.
All of the characters have moments of wit and depth. Critics and film professors enjoy pointing out the visual metaphors and stylistic beauty of the movie, and while those things are present, acknowledgement of them is not required to truly enjoy this movie.
For some, watching an old movie can be a chore, but seriously give this one a watch. It is a truly a masterpiece of the medium.
