Review of Citizen Kane (1941) by Russell V — 18 Jun 2012
So this is the so called "the greatest film of all time"? Well I thought it was really damn good. First of all, I watched this film out of curiosity because of its reputation and while I don't think this it's" the greatest" since any film will have their ups and downs, I think this film is really amazing.
If this was made in the early 40's, it is was way ahead of its time. Comparing it to other films in that era, the cinematography, editing and storytelling were unlike anything at the time and it holds up even to this day.
Charles Foster Kane is one fascinating character and Welles does a great job portraying and directing him as he intertwines his life with other people and events. Probably the best thing in this film in my opinion is the brilliant cinematography.
The film is shot so well and so technically brilliant that it enhances the atmosphere and mood and fully conveys what the character's emotions are.
