Review of Citizen Kane (1941) by Pj P — 07 Aug 2012
Overlong, overrated and under characterized, Citizen Kane lost any point it may have had when William Randolph Hearst died. I thought it brilliant as a kid, but then the newsreel style shown was contemporary; now it's ludicrous.
Citizen Kane, unlike, say, Casablanca, does not stand the test of time. It may have been inventive but - gather ye rosebuds while ye may. Anyway, how did they know his last word - he was alone.
