Review of Citizen Kane (1941) by Huseyn B — 20 Sep 2012
This film, more than once deservedly called in various polls of critics and other filmmakers as the best cinematographic works of all time, has an excellent 8.6 (out of 10) by a vote of users imdb, which indicates its recognition of the modern audience. The picture is far ahead of its time (it was put forward by nine nominations for "Oscar", but has received only a consolation prize for the original in every sense of the script), still capable of hitting its own cinematic innovation.
This is all the more surprising that the "Citizen Kane" was created by a debutant in movies and only 25-year-old (!) By age actor, screenwriter, director and producer Orson Welles, who spent an impressive statement, contrary to speculation, not so much a significant amount of - $ 686 million (approximately $ 18 million at current exchange rate). Although the tape in time of its release on the screen did not have commercial success, she then repeatedly released rental and even brought Wells profits, since, according successfully concluded contract, he owned a quarter of the total income.
But the film could all disappear without a trace, because the powerful movie producer Louis B. Mayer offered to pay Nicholas Skenku, RKO studio head, all the costs of production, if he agrees to wash film. The fact is that even more impressive figures in the U.S. media, newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst, "Citizen Kane" was totally unacceptable, as many learned in the main character of Charles Foster Kane was his, though Orson Welles, starting from some facts from the biography and career Hirst created a collective image of a very influential person in American society.
And over the decades to become apparent incredible insight young author, who on the basis of modern for him the real stuff made, in fact, a mythological person, at the same time trying to destroy the idea of â.
