Review of Citizen Kane (1941) by Bill B — 10 Oct 2012
Gave this a much-needed re-watch on Blu-ray, and can happily report that it holds up as well as ever, with a gorgeous transfer. I have even had the opportunity to see this one theatrically, something that I never expected to happen, and I loved every minute of it.
The film that made me want to watch more black and white cinema.
A must see if only to fully realize how influential it's been to the movies that have followed it. It still retains a startlingly contemporary look in terms of sophistication of the camera-work and the language of film that we now take for granted.
Highly recommended.
