Review of Citizen Kane (1941) by John H — 01 May 2013
A rather magnificent piece of art.
Citizen Kane proved to the world that cinema is an art form that can express stories in ways that other art forms lack, like literally visualising a story while still having as much subtext as a novel. Citizen Kane was created by the finest director-actor who ever lived: Orson Welles.
Orson Welles crafted the film with a team of people that realised a film of this calibre could only be done with their elegant and steady hands. Not a single pixel of information was used during the making of Citizen Kane, and it never needed computers to be great. If only Hollywood realised this today.
No one deserves to miss watching the film at all. Everyone should see it. This is THE movie of our time and is always a rewatchable pleasure.
Citizen Kane is honoured with 5/5 rosebuds.
