Review of Citizen Kane (1941) by Nate B — 13 Nov 2013
Orson Welles gives one of the top performances of all time. He also directs his masterpiece and forces the viewer to love it with perfect use of light and shadow and a populist message that always plays well.
It does suffer from some of the standard practices of the era such as rushed dialogue and shrill female performances, but these issues cannot diminish Welles' masterful grip on the story-telling and his own performance.
