Review of Citizen Kane (1941) by Donnie Ray S — 14 Mar 2014
What astonishes me most about this film is how perfect it is. It has the art. When you look into Charles's house, you can see how the vastness gives you the feeling of emptiness that Kane is trying to fill up.
The black and white is put to perfect use. The clashing shadows and lights is jaw-dropping. It has the story. The dialogue is clever and plenty. It makes you care for the character and makes you dying to know the meaning of "Rosebud".
It blends the art and story into a film that deserves it's right as the greatest of all time. The creation of Citizen Kane ranks among the very top of man kinds greatest achievement in art.
