Review of Citizen Kane (1941) by James B — 28 Feb 2013
Orson Welles tells a story with Citizen Kane, a story of a man who always had everything he ever wanted, but never what he really needed. With this movie Orson Welles has created an engrossing adult story without the use of gratuitous sex or violence to try and force maturity into the atmosphere.
From the opening scene of Kane's final words to the closing shot that brings the movie full circle back to the beginning I was engrossed with Charles Foster Kane's success, infamy, and relentless pursuit of that lost ideal that he can never reattain.
