Review of Citizen Kane (1941) by Sinisteris T — 23 Feb 2015
Spectacular. 10.0/10. A+.
Flawless directing creates perfect realism and engages the audience with an entertaining style; terrific writing creates a fantastic plot that combines the subjective point of view with personal story while also carrying extaordinary dialogue; brilliant performances make it seem like you're watching real events; incredible cinematography make it look visually decades ahead of its time in technology; amazing composing creates a great score which boosts the film even more; the genius filmmaking behind Citizen Kane makes it an original, inventive, engaging, and entertaining masterpiece that is influential to this day and makes you want to watch it again as soon as it's over, but also digs much deeper into the philosophy but mystery the film is known for today in its overall idea of the human being and how they're represented, who they are, what they think, but most of all how they are remembered and known as after they're dead: through the memories of others and what they have shown of themselves to others and the world; Charles Foster Kane seems so much like a real person, even though we only see him through accounts of him and memories of him as the man who lost his childhood, the man who wanted nothing but love, the man who wanted to help the underprivileged, etc., in a deep explanation that nothing can be directly explained and no matter what Rosebud is, it means nothing and only exists as a piece of Kane's life.
