Review of Citizen Kane (1941) by Jayakrishnan R — 07 Aug 2015
DOUBLE THUMBS UP.
Viewed this on 7/8/15.
Unlike almost all the films of early 20th century, this debut film of Orson Welles does not feel immature and juvenile and instead it is one of the best debut movies ever made. Citizen Kane benefits from it's engaging non-linear narrative, terrific acting from all of the cast, great make up and also the unique noir cinematography and last but not the least, a sense of tragedy. There is no wonder why people call this the best film ever made, at least it's far far better than Vertigo. I never expected to like Citizen Kane this much. It is extremely emotional and it has a sensible story.
