While the film is visually stunning, especially when one considers most of the effects are not simply tricks of the camera or otherwise digitally enhanced. That said, there's nothing that makes the 3D really worth the extra cost.

I walked away feeling like I'd just sat through a 97 minute advertisement for Cirque Du Soleil.
