Review of Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant (2009) by Tero L — 15 Jul 2010
Vampires, freaks, a spider escaped from the radioactive tests in Spider-man and some good ol' teen-flick clichés. Something you didn't expect when you're not watching a Twilight-sequel. Then again, this had the advantage of being actually amusing, unlike Twilight.
Two teens thrown into a mix of weird coincidences and even freakier folk. Both of them end up as vampires, playing into the hands of a doomsday plotting evil mastermind behind the scenes. That's the story in a nutshell.
And one of the weird things about this movie is that with a plot as useless as that it still manages to entertain quite a bit.
Actors are spot on, effects done well enough not to stick out, no complaints in the musical score, and the overall atmosphere fits like a glove. Definately one to watch.
