Review of Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant (2009) by Evan D — 21 Jul 2010
Darren and his best friend, Steve, attend what is called "Cirque du Freak", an illegal show where deformed beings and other creatures put on a show for those willing to watch. While there, Darren steals a magical and deadly spider, which soon bites Steve.
He, then, must return to the freaks and confess to the owner, Larten, who is a vampire. To strike the deal for help, though, Darren must become a half-vampire and assist Larten and the freaks against an evil vampire who has returned to town.
Why I decided to watch this movie... I have no idea! It was quite ridiculous. I thought maybe with John C. Reilly and Willem Dafoe it would be funny, but I was wrong. It was corny and had some of the worst special/creature effects I've ever seen.
Interesting cinematography and set design is the only credit that I will give this movie.
