Review of Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant (2009) by Lorne L — 31 Mar 2011
Dialogue was a little light and underwhelming. Could have also done with less narration from the main character -- his voice was immediately annoying. The teens that are the focus of this flick are utterly two-dimensional and I'm not sure if that was done on-purpose in the script or just poorly acted, or if the direction was lacking. Regardless, it made the film less intriguing as it boiled down to whiny kids with whiny problems and last minute insights that really don't amount to growth as regurgitation.
However, the world was quite interesting. Wouldn't mind seeing more of what occurs in that story universe.
