Review of Circle (2015) by Lovro H — 19 Dec 2015
Although this idea had been done before (Exam, Cube etc.), this movie still manages to surprise! The story follows 50 strangers who are all gathered in one circle. They're killing each other off one by one by voting and the person with the most votes, obviously, dies.
The last one standing, presumably survives. The characters vary from likeable to highly unlikeable and it's very hard to watch sometimes as you never know who might die. Some of the choices early in the movie seem unreasonable, but as the movie goes on, teams are formed, secrets are unveiled, it's all very intense! I find this to be one of the most unpredictable movies I've seen this entire year.
The acting is great, some are better than others, but overall it's not cringe-worthy or anything like that. There's many controversial statements and many moments where you can just ask yourself "What would I do in a situation like that?" All in all, I thought this movie was amazing.
I really loved the tension throughout, literally, the entire movie. I would highly recommend checking this movie out!
