Review of Cinema Paradiso (1988) by Matt C — 21 Mar 2010
Oh man, this one was a treat. It truly is an ode to the cinema lover. It's about a boy and a man who runs the projector at their small Italian town's theater. The theater is what ties together all the town's people, it's a sanctuary of sorts, a home away from home.
People fall in love there, make love there, bring up their family there, break hearts there, make friends there, and of course share their love for the silver screen there. The boy and man grow a close bond and ultimately a lifelong love for each other because of their love for the movies.
It's so beautiful and honest, and it's a surefire tearjerker for anyone that has a soul. It's a definite classic that takes a page or two from the rest of the classics. I'm really glad I happened upon this one.
