Review of Cinema Paradiso (1988) by Ray K — 04 Jan 2011
After the movie, I sat in complete awe of some of the questions that lingered in my mind- for example, why did the young man leave the princess before the final day? what was the reason for Alfredo's harshness?
As I processed these questions, I realized the genius and the heart behind this film- beyond the surface level"sweet relationship between a boy and his mentor" lies the father figure who loves as any human fathers, with a fault.. the true nature of love as one can only go 99% and the last 1% must be her choice. It is spellbinding and awe inspiring to watch all the different depths of this film.
