An important note: I have seen the international Academy Award winning version several times, and the extended cut once. In fact, I bought the extended version hoping to get more of the same marvel. But as a great Tornatore fan I must admit that the extension has simply eliminated the charm.
In my view, the extended version would not have won the Oscar.
