Review of Cinema Paradiso (1988) by Kevin G — 08 May 2011
Most fans of film should find a lot to love in Cinema Paradiso. Full of nostalgia and homages to classic movies, you're bound to find something to connect to. The story is extremely touching and honest, but it's the execution that makes it truly beautiful.
The cinematography, editing and score from Ennio Morricone take you into this world of film and never let you break free. The characters are so well pieced together as well, especially the relationship between Alfredo and Toto spanning over twenty some odd years.
Even with three actors playing the lead role, all of them managed to be effective in their own way. The child star Salvatore Cascio was probably one of the cutest little mischievous Italians and gives so much heart and soul; as far as i'm concerned he gave the best performance.
