Review of Cinema Paradiso (1988) by Alex C — 10 Jun 2011
A beautiful film in which the relationship between Alfredo and Toto is central. Tells of the beauty of film and the importance of pursuing personal happiness. But perhaps the most striking aspect of this film is Alfredo's great love for Toto in that he exhibited the greatest act of kindness possible, which could easily be mistaken as cruelty at first glance.
On the subject of the extended version, it is still just as masterfully crafted however I would advise seeing the original one first. Truly a masterpiece and one of my top favorites.
