Review of Cinema Paradiso (1988) by Phillipe H — 26 Nov 2011
A classic in its own right, this Italian film about films is a beautiful portrayal of the innocence of childhood. In fact, the purity of the emotions, especially its innocent love, can be called the original: nothing matches Alfredo, the immortalized uncle figure that every boy (or girl) can relate to.
All three actors for Salvatore bring a different form of innocence and disillusion. Nostalgia and poignancy don't begin to describe this romantic memoir, as only watching it can bring out the beauty of its final scene-- back to the beginning of the movie.
