Review of Cinderella Man (2005) by Lawrence B — 15 Apr 2012
The "Beautiful Mind" trio of star Russell Crowe, director Ron Howard and screenwriter Avika Goldsmith reunite for this absorbing boxing drama following the story of struggling pugilist Jim Braddock as he fights his way out of America's Great Depression.
It's pretty much for Rocky for real and so whilst the narrative is more than familiar, the film's greatest asset is its period setting, a subject one soon realises somewhat overlooked in American Cinema.
