A story in the categories of love, sports, financial, physical and mental struggle, in all in which it succeeds. The chemistry between Zelwegger and Crowe is phenomenal. The script is in no other words better fitting, beautiful.

The way Zelwegger talks to Crowe with angst and pride and the way Crowe talks to his children with power and hope is admirable. The recreation of the depression is almost perfect from costume, to set all the way to the soundtrack.

The life of Jimmy Bradock was a true triumphant comeback in and out of the ring, hence Cinderella man, "the hope of the Irish." Max Baer's character is portrayed too evil for a not so horribly reputed deceased man, but it is a good tactic to help the audience root for the hero.

You feel the tension of not only his family but all the people from New Jersey and of Irish descent when Braddock goes to fight. It is as though Crowe is going to war, kissing his family, Zelwegger in all black going to church, right before his bout with Baer, making it a little mellow dramatic.

Overall outstanding pull with little use of unnecessary dramatic pull, simple story of a sport legend fighting for his family.
