Review of Cinderella (2021) by Rlorde — 07 Sep 2021

You know a movie is great when you want to re-watch it the moment it ends. I can't remember last time I watched a movie more than once, but this one keeps me coming back. Pure joy & entertainment with brilliant performances by the entire cast and a soundtrack that I can listen to all day.

Camila Cabello's debut in this movie blew me away. She's a natural comedienne full of charisma but equally delivers emotional depth. More than holds her own with this all-stars cast. The thing I appreciate most about this film are the uplifting values it's built on: inclusivity, diversity, kindness, self-love and confidence to follow your dreams.

This movie breaks the barriers of the old "norms" without ever losing it's fun & joyful energy. The fact that some critics take issue with these positive themes in the movie because it's not conforming to their traditional expectations is exactly why I think this movie is so necessary and relevant.
