Revisions to the original story makes the writing a cringe fest. The original story of Cinderella takes a backseat to a not-so-subtle social commentary on the injustice towards women in a bygone era. The classic evil characters are retconned into misunderstood victims of the patriarchy.
Original donut-steel characters are inserted for no discernable purpose other than to fulfill diversity quota checkboxes. Every woman is strong and independent, every man is the butt of a joke. You can tell the script was written and reviewed by people who live on twitter.
Giving it a 6 because the costuming and performances were decent enough.
