Review of Cinderella (2015) by Leonard D — 27 Mar 2017
Yeah, it's the same story from 1950, and doesn't break any new ground, but for a live action adaptation, it's beautifully well made! You can tell that there's nobody under acting or over acting, and it really shows. Even though the songs are not present here, there still is allot of heart and soul put into the quality of the film! It's a chick flick, but I enjoyed this movie for what it is. Kate Blanchett nailed it as the wicked stepmother!
If there is one gripe I have with this film, however, it's with the character Ella herself. She just wasn't that interesting to care for, because her motives are one sided. Branagh should have added more to her character, but for what he presented here, felt like a missed opportunity. But the good thing about this film are the visuals, so I really enjoyed that. It just feels like that this film could have been so much better!
