Review of Cinderella (2013) by Irene S — 13 Oct 2015
Back in 1996 Disney released a a live action adaptation of a beloved animated classic 101 Dalmatians. It wasn't the hit Disney wanted it to be but it made enough money to warrant a sequel.
I mention the film in particular because the live action adaptation of Disney properties isn't a new invention, it just seems that Cinderella has perfected it.
Cinderella directed by Kenneth Brannagh and written by Chris Weitz (About a Boy) is pretty much a replica of the classic 1950 film. The film is visually stunning, the acting by all is enjoyable and amiable. Lilly James and Cate Blanchett are simply on top form.
Honestly it is very hard to fault this film, it knows what it is, and it does it well the fact that everyone involved is having fun just makes it that much more better.
Overall stunning visuals and well rounded acting makes this latest adaptation a treat for fans of the original animated film and the next generation of young girls. Roll on Beauty and the Beast.
