Review of Cinderella (2013) by Anthony V — 14 Oct 2015
Disney had a good thing here. Lily James as Cinderella, check. Cate Blanchett as the step mother, check. Richard Madden as the prince, check. Helena Bonham Carter as the Fairy Godmother check. Kenneth Branagh directing, check.
However, the script can't seem to make up its mind whether you should have some sympathy for the stepmother, or hate her and bogs everything down with unnecessary voice over narration from the Fairy Godmother.
Don't worry, despite the mediocre script, it still has its moments.
