Review of Cinderella (2013) by Lea B — 31 Oct 2015
The visuals are nice and the performance from Cate Blanchet and Helena Bonham Carter are fenomenal. However, it doesn't make up for the fact that the writing is one of the two most common writings nowadays, and that is to have all the characters to be absolute morons except for one who is not ever listened to, not even once.
In fact, compaired to this version of Cinderella, the character of Cinderella in Disney's animated classic is a genius. Think about it, when she needed help to get out of there, the classic one got Bruno to scare the cat away and even hid her shoe better.
Instead of just singing and dancing around like this version, she simply did something. And unlike this Cinderella who hid her shoe so badly it was easy to find, the animated Cinderella hid it in her apron.
So basically, the classic one actually did a lot more than this one, even if it doesn't seem like much. I'd say you should just ignore this live-action remake and stick with Disney's 1950 animated classic.
