Review of Chungking Express (1994) by Jordan P — 21 Apr 2008
I definitely prefer "Chungking Express" over American Garbage, like "American Pie". At least there is some sort of moral, perhaps spiritual reflection. I really related to the main male characters, especially Tony Leung Chiu Wai.
The struggles in this film is so petty, but so essential to life. In essence, the theme is this: "This person could be the one for me". Even going as far back as Middle School, I always hoped so-and-so would be the one I marry.
This movie sort of plays on that theme, you give all your heart, and then you break up, but you are always looking for someone new.
