Review of Chungking Express (1994) by Jonathan A — 07 Dec 2010
Two intertwining stories dealing with the oddball romance between two couples in 90s Hong Kong. Very intriguing storytelling, but far too disjointed for my taste. I felt as if there wasn't sufficient enough time for me to invest enough in the characters to really get a sense of admiration for the picture.
Other films have done this approach before (and after) but "Chungking Express" didn't click enough with me like I had hoped it would. Otherwise, it has a great sense of visual style, and I did find the characters eccentricities to be entertaining.
