Review of Chrysalis (2007) by Bart & — 26 Jan 2010

It's...it's different, for the most part. I loved the complex storyline and the interconnection between the seemingly disparate characters, not to mentioned the ridiculously well-choreographed fight scenes.

The movie's one flaw, however, is that in the last half-hour it doesn't trust the audience to accept the convoluted nature of the story, so the characters sit and explain to each other what is happening, which is one of my pet peeves of movies! Don't tell us; SHOW US what is happening! If you look past those few scenes, however, what you'll find is a unique and very dark thriller; not totally something we've never seen before, but enough so that it proves to be a breath of fresh air.
