Review of Chronicle (2012) by Antony G — 19 Nov 2014
Not what I was expecting but it didn't really live up to its full potential, much like Hancock. Filmed in the style of the likes of Blair Witch Project & Cloverfield as one of the students films his every move as a visual diary.
It's a slow burner but the final 20 minutes or so is reminiscent of the battle in Superman II in central Metropolis. I suppose if any of us developed powers beyond our comprehension would we unravel & lose the plot or understand we need to harness any ability to help rather than destroy.
This is what happens to three high school students who stumble across a subterranean cave where something not of this world is discovered. They all soon develop powers which grow stronger with each passing day.
Two embrace their new powers but one soon losses control & turns against his friends & the world around him.
