Review of Chronicle (2012) by Stefan N — 06 Jan 2014
"Chronicle" is an energetic superhero film with wit, ingenuity, and a capable director. Centering around three high school students who discover the power of telekinesis and the ethical conflicts of the usage, "Chronicle" takes us into the personal lives of superheroes.
The special effects are realistic and may not be the best, but are used carefully and efficiently. The script is smart since it shows the psychology of normal people who one day go on a massacre. The new-coming directors are intelligent (Josh Trank and Jay Alaimo) and it shows as they conserve action scenes as Speilberg did with the shark.
The found-footage effect is more inventive here than usual too. Although, Dane Dahaan and Michael B. Jordan are being praised for their performances, I feel that Alex Russell is the best actor in the film and plays his performance very naturally.
"Chronicle" is a savvy entry into the superhero movie franchise.
