Review of Chronicle (2012) by Mark K — 04 Apr 2013
This movie is without a doubt one of the best movies I've seen. It had great acting, great directing, a fantastic screenplay and while the movie was limited in some ways, due to the fact that it was a found footage movie, I really enjoyed every single bit of this movie.
Now I could describe how much I loved the movie because of everything in it, but that would take too long and I wanted to fcous on one thing that I loved more than everything in the movie. What I really loved was the in-depth look at what happens when a teenager who gets beaten up and bullied is pushed to the breaking point.
And what happens when they reach that breaking point? They will snap and try to inflict pain to whoever hurt them first. Basically Andrew (one of the main characters) was an allegory of the columbine kids that shot people at their high school in Colorado.
And even though what Andrew was doing was wrong I couldn't help but root for him in the final moments of this movie because in the end he wasn't evil the people who treated him so badly were the real evil.
And if anything they were more at fault than Andrew because if they would have just left him alone then Andrew wouldn't have gone crazy. And I probably would have done the same thing. Because I know what it's like to be bullied.
