Review of Christopher Robin (2018) by Sharon Y — 07 Aug 2018
I almost didn't see this because of the poor reviews by critics. Luckily, I believed the 90% of the audience who loved it. What a beautifully-done film, like a 20th century fairy tale. I get bored easily with slow-moving "art films," but this moves right along.
The animated characters fit seamlessly into the real-life action, and I can't imagine them doing a finer job bringing the characters into 3D. Every animal texture was AMAZING, you could almost feel their adorable thread-bare "fur.
" Ewan MacGregor and the rest of the cast did a super job. I just watched his "Long Way Round" documentary, where he and a friend motorcycle around the world through raging rivers, etc., so it was fun to see him back as an actor, knowing more about what he is like in real life, and what he has overcome.
His love of family comes across equally well in the documentary and in this film.
