Review of Christopher Robin (2018) by Welsh M — 18 Aug 2018
Went to see this film yesterday with my 10 year old daughter and husband: We all genuinely loved it. My husband and I always loved the original animated Disney film Whinnie the Pooh when we were children, and now as grown ups (both with stressful jobs) we could relate to 'grown up Christopher Robin' .
I've seen a lot of critics slating this film, but that feels unjustified. -Yesterday I didn't want to go see a challenging, gripping, thought provoking, artistically shot narrative that the usual 'critics' would give 5 stars and outstanding reviews to.
Watching Disney's Christopher Robin, was like having a warm cup of cocoa.
- Yes; the scenes of London showed an idealised rose-tinted viewof the capital, at a time before there were constant traffic jams, parking charges, massive social problems and litter everywhere. -that was nice to imagine.
Christopher Robin's family cottage in Sussex set next to the beautiful hundred-acre wood reminded me of home and the wood behind our house where our daughter explores with her friends.
So.... overall, my family and I all loved the film. My daughter said "yeah it was very good -I would give it 5 stars" and last night I drifted off to sleep dreaming of the hundred acre wood. (Unlike the previous Saturday when I watched 'It', which the 'critics' gave rave reviews to, but which gave me nightmares).
