Review of Christopher and His Kind (2011) by Amanda C — 26 Feb 2012
Matt Smith is going to be ok once his Doctor Who years are over. Smith is a fearless actor who seems up for anything. His Isherwood is intelligent, articulate and wonderfully venerable. The surrounding cast are solid as well. Toby Jones is as always very good and Imogen Poots is also wonderful.
Christopher and his Kind does a very good job of balancing the carefree attitude before the war and transitioning into the oppression and anger felt after the Nazi's take power. Christopher and his Kind is completely engrossing and utterly charming. It goes beyond sentiment and superficiality that could have been the case.
