Review of Christmas with the Kranks (2004) by Ola G — 26 Nov 2008
So, I am going through some more Christmas movies I have not seen before. Up next was "Christmas With The Kranks". Yet another Christmas movie with Tim Allen. Does he ever get tired of Christmas?
When Luther (Tim Allen) and Nora Kranks (Jamie Lee-Curtis) daughter Blairs leaves for Peru to join the Peace corps, they decide to skip Christmas this year and spend it on a cruise instead. This causes a lot of issues with the neighbours and in general. Eventually, Blair has decided to come for Christmas anyways, and the Kranks need to figure out how to deal with everything before she arrives with her new boyfriend.
This is well, obviously meant for a very young audience since the comedy structure and story is quite childish. The story tries to put forward the usual moral of what Christmas is about and I reckon there is some sort of Christmas spark in the end, but it had to fight through a thick layer of massive Hollywood crapola. And I am mostly wondering what has happend to one of my old favourites, Dan Aykroyd? He keeps on turning up in these shit movies. Nevertheless, "Christmas With The Kranks" is not really worth seeing. 2 out of 5.
