Unbelievably based on a book by John Grisham, "Christmas With the Kranks" follows the typically bland and emotionally impaired trend that is forced upon us in holiday movies. It's the worst time of year, but it somehow is still maigical.
Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis are having trouble dealing with being alone for the holidays since their daughter has gone away to college. They decide to spend Christmas in the Bahamas to the horror of their neighbors, who believe that everyone should overdo the holiday at home. Things get crazy when the daughter announces she will be home afterall and the Kranks must pull the cheer together.
Though still pretty bad, it is not quite as awful as pictures like "Deck the Halls" and Four Christmases". Still its as generic as it gets and is only lifts slightly by Jamie Lee Curtis.
