Review of Christine (2016) by Moviemitch96 — 06 Nov 2016
I want to be honest and say unfortunately, prior to seeing this film, I accidentally caught a glimpse online of the major spoiler revolving around the main character of the film. I guess technically it isn't a spoiler for those who know a bit more about Christine Chubbuck , but I did not prior to seeing this.
With that being said, I was a bit hesitant to check the film out at that point since I was worried that I would be too busy anticipating the spoiler and not be surprised when it happened. However, the film still ended up being a well-acted, worthwhile film for the most part, which made up for that for me.
Rebecca Hall shines like never before as the titular character in her most memorable, star-turning performance yet! The film maintained its 70s setting and feel quite nicely as well. Overall, the film was well-acted and served as the best showcase yet for Rebecca Hall, but on the downside, like I said, I really think I would've been impacted more or would've been left with a much more lasting impression by this film had I not accidentally spoiled it for myself.
I also felt the ending to be a bit rushed and unresolved as well, but if anything, definitely check this film out for the acting, as it was its strongest aspect in my opinion.
