Review of Christine (1983) by Nickolaus P — 29 Jan 2008
Classic horror film matching the frights of the book of the same name. John Carpenter and Stephen King. This combination you might not see again for a long time so run to your store and buy this one. My mother and father got this one for my birthday a few years ago, and the novel was the first one I read of his -- and that was back in 1990.
Sometimes a classic car will give me the creeps and this movie and novel will be the reason why. It is very close to the book but the only difference was the town it was set in. Almost a scene for scene match to the novel, and that is what makes it scarier to see. The book kicks ass too -- get the book if you can find it as a trade paperback cover. I would like to get the novel as a 6x9 paperback size for a conversation piece explaining "This was the novel that I sunk my teeth into when it came to Stephen King. I snagged my mother's copy of the book and the respect for Stephen King started from there.".
Keith Gordon was downright chilling in this one because he became a man who was a nerd then became car obsessed to its darkest form. The car was alive and possesed by the devil himself. Stephen King likes to make vehicles an element of horror and this was the first story that did that.
